Natural bodies of water.
thank you for opening up my world
to blues and browns and greens
engulfing, encapsulating, engrossing
how could i have not known, all these years?

From above the rippling plane, I stand
anxious, a great temperature change to come
as if each time I’ve forgotten the pleasure and gratitude
that follows after i’ve taken the plunge

this morning in the north aegean
i am grateful and refreshed
and i thank you for introducing me
in those ponds and lakes thousands of miles away

but i’m here today
and there is salt in my mouth
i float easily
after the run i couldn’t have asked for more
