writings by Nathan Johnson – July, 2010.

“Hello my name is Steven Kraft. I am covered in baby deer ticks. They are in all cracks, warm spots, and sacred Jewish spots on my body. I don’t know how this happened. I am going to shave my head, take modern medicines, and live in a food forest where I pick the wild mushroom. Until then, I will be writing the design report via advanced computing technology, occasionally pulling up the digital dictionary and stressing about lyme’s disease.

Did I tell you about the time when I rode my bike and visited people? There was this guy and he had a house. It was a nice, small house. Did you know that I like to sing and don’t really know much Hebrew? Well, it’s true. I’m also really into food and stuff. The other day I got a road killed porcupine and totally ate it. Today I am a deer tick forest, they grab on to my ample leg hairs and just start, like, climbing. The visiting doctor and I got to know each other very well.

Ok, back to work.

Sincerely,

Steven J Kraft”

Music from Portland – Contrapposto.

My friend took me to a show in Portland last week where I was knocked off my feet by the local duo, Contrapposto.

It’s been our soundtrack; on repeat.  Turn it up and see if you can help yourself from grooving.  Enjoy.

Joe Philipson is a splendid photographer.  I eagerly await the release of his documentary film on Small World Food, of which the follow clip was taken.  Kudos to smoke and tunes with friend PatSplit.

Choices. Time.

This too, shall pass.  All of this.  Body, too.

Oh, but how to pick and choose?

Books and films; more than I could ever digest.

Forests, fields, deserts, mountains, cities, oceans.

Paths, roads, tracks, trails and highways.

So much skin, so many lips, legs, cheeks, and fingers.

Friends, lovers, teachers, artists.

What ever could be such a thing as boredom?

Squeezing and drinking the juice of this life piques my deepening fascinations and interests.  I am overwhelmed with abundance, ever-present, everywhere. Gratitude.  Learning to stop grasping.

Thinking differently.

June memories, on bikes.

Leading the pack.

Thank you to NCT.
